Authorities in Atlantic County are searching for a police dog who escaped during Saturday's wild weather.
The Atlantic County Sheriff's Office said a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois named Dillinger escaped from his outdoor kennel in Egg Harbor Township over the weekend.
The dog's handler, Sherrif's Officer Ron DeMoulin, discovered an empty cage while going to check on the dog at about 7 a.m. Saturday.
Police believe Dillinger scaled a five-foot tall fence and squeezed through a six-inch gap. He was last spotted on the shoulder of the Atlantic City Expressway.
If you spot the police dog, do not attempt to secure him and instead contact police at 609-909-7200.
